Classical Homeopathy

Main Principles

Today, despite persistent myths, homeopathy is increasingly supported by modern research and clinical outcomes worldwide. I believe we are in a time of renewal and evolution in this field—an exciting chapter I’m proud to contribute to.

1. We Are All Connected

Homeopathy is based on the idea that all of life is part of a unified field—an underlying order that connects all living and non-living things. Within this field, each person has a unique vital force—the self-regulating energy that maintains health and balance.

When illness arises, it often signals a disruption in this internal balance. A well-matched homeopathic remedy acts as an energetic stimulus, prompting the vital force to respond. This response is not always mild—it may be gentle or vigorous, depending on the individual’s sensitivity, the depth of the remedy, and the state of the vital force.

Some people experience a strong reaction—a temporary intensification of symptoms or a release of suppressed emotions—as part of the healing process. These are signs that the system is mobilizing energy to restore health, not simply masking symptoms.

Homeopathy doesn’t override the body—it helps reawaken its natural intelligence, whether through a whisper or, at times, a necessary internal shake.

2. Individualization

Homeopathy treats the individual, not just the disease. Two people with the same diagnosis may need completely different remedies, because their symptoms—and the way they experience them—are different.

By observing the full picture of a person’s symptoms, including physical sensations, emotional responses, and mental patterns, the homeopath selects a remedy that matches the whole person. This highly individualized approach supports healing at the root, not just the surface.

3. Like Cures Like

The Law of Similars is the cornerstone of homeopathy: a substance that can produce symptoms in a healthy person may help cure similar symptoms in someone who is unwell—when prepared in homeopathic form.

For example, Cocculus indicus—derived from a plant—can cause dizziness, nausea, and motion sickness in a healthy person. In homeopathy, Cocculus is used to treat those same symptoms, helping the body restore balance.

As George Vithoulkas explains:

“By matching the symptom-picture of the remedy to symptom-picture of the patient, we match their resonant frequencies, thereby accomplishing cure by strengthening the defense mechanism at its weakest point.”

4. Healing with the Smallest Dose

Homeopathic remedies are prepared through serial dilution and succussion (shaking), which enhances their healing power. At a certain level of dilution, no physical molecules of the original substance remain. Instead, only the imprinted energy or vibrational pattern of the substance remains. This energy interacts with the body’s own vital force to promote healing. Remarkably, the more diluted the remedy, the stronger its effect, stimulating the body’s natural healing mechanisms without causing harm; this process removes toxicity while enhancing the remedy’s energetic imprint or informational signal. These ultra-dilute remedies act as subtle signals that the body can recognize—much like a whisper that prompts a healing response rather than a drug that forces one.

The goal is to stimulate the body’s natural healing mechanisms without side effects or symptom suppression.

7. The Continuum of Disease

According to renowned homeopath George Vithoulkas, disease is not simply acute or chronic; it is a continuous disturbance of the vital force.

Without proper treatment, acute diseases can become chronic, and chronic conditions may present as acute flare-ups.

As George Vithoulkas writes in his Continuum of a Unified Theory of Diseases:

"Suppression of diseases, through excess of chemical drugs or other means, many times overwhelms the body’s natural defenses and forces the immune system to compromise and start a deeper line of defense, which then constitute the beginning of a new chronic condition."

Homeopathy works to resolve illness at its source, rather than drive it deeper.

“Homeopathy is the most demanding but also the most satisfying and rewarding discipline in medicine as it cures the human being in its totality on all levels, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.” - Erik Van Woensel

Why I Chose Homeopathy
My journey into homeopathy began not in textbooks, but through personal healing. After experiencing profound results in my own and my family’s health, I was compelled to understand why and how this subtle yet powerful system works. What I discovered reshaped my understanding of medicine and the human body.

5. Finding the Similimum

The Similimum is the one remedy that most closely matches a person’s complete symptom picture—physically, emotionally, and mentally. It is not just about addressing isolated symptoms; it’s about finding the remedy that resonates with the person’s deeper energetic state.

When this match is precise, the vital force responds clearly and strongly, often leading to deep and lasting improvement. This individualized match is the core of classical homeopathic practice.

6. One Remedy at a Time

In classical homeopathy, only one remedy is prescribed at a time. This allows the practitioner to observe how the person responds and to adjust the treatment with clarity.

Combination remedies—common in over-the-counter products—mix several remedies at once, which can interfere with accurate observation and may confuse the body’s response. Classical homeopathy values simplicity, precision, and trust in the body's innate healing capacity.

A Brief History of Homeopathy

Samuel Hahnemann, founder of Homeopathy

Homeopathy was established more than two centuries ago by Samuel Hahnemann (1755-1843), a German physician, chemist, and researcher. Hahnemann was highly intellectual, mastering seven languages by the age of 24 and known for his brilliance and integrity. Disillusioned with the harmful medical practices of his era, he stepped away from conventional medicine and began translating medical works.

A pivotal moment in his journey occurred when translating a medical textbook by William Cullen. He discovered that cinchona bark, derived from a tree in Peru, was used to treat malaria. Curious about this, Hahnemann experimented by taking a small dose of cinchona himself. This led him to experience symptoms that resembled malaria, albeit much less severe. From this, he concluded that a substance causing specific symptoms in a healthy individual could cure those same symptoms in a sick person—this principle became the foundation of homeopathy: "like cures like."

Over the following six years, Hahnemann and his colleagues meticulously tested this theory, documenting how different substances induced symptoms in healthy people. They then applied this information to treat patients, creating a "remedy picture" for each illness.

Hahnemann also pioneered the concept of infinitesimal doses. Through his experiments, he found that diluting and shaking remedies—whether derived from plants, minerals, or poisons—boosted their healing effect while minimizing harm. This became a cornerstone of homeopathic practice: the more diluted the remedy, the stronger its therapeutic power.

The idea of Similimum refers to choosing the remedy that most closely matches a patient's symptoms. Homeopaths believe that finding the most accurate match helps the body heal by supporting its natural defense mechanisms.

Hahnemann’s groundbreaking discoveries revolutionized medicine, offering a safer, more holistic method of healing that continues to influence medical practices today.

Unveiling the Truth: The Scientific Evidence Behind Homeopathy

James Tyler Kent, American Homeopathic Physician

Homeopathy has long been dismissed as mere placebo by some, yet the evidence suggests otherwise, with infants, animals, and even crops showing clear benefits from homeopathic remedies. The skepticism surrounding homeopathy fails to account for the numerous documented successes and the principles upheld by brilliant minds throughout history. Pioneers like Samuel Hahnemann, James Kent, and modern-day figures such as George Vithoulkas turned to homeopathy because it works. Their dedication to this holistic approach to healing arose from a deep understanding that homeopathic remedies can stimulate the body’s self-healing abilities, rather than just masking symptoms.

Moreover, the persistence of the scientific community's reluctance to recognize its efficacy stands in stark contrast to the mounting research supporting homeopathy. As exemplified by the recent work of the International Academy of Classical Homeopathy, under the guidance of Professor George Vithoulkas and Dr. Camelia Grosan, concrete evidence is now emerging. After eight years of painstaking research, employing advanced techniques like Transmission Electron Microscopy, Raman Spectroscopy, and Deep Learning algorithms, their study has definitively shown that homeopathic remedies are indeed active. Their findings, focusing on the morphological characteristics of gold (Aurum Met) solutions in various potentizations, provide irrefutable evidence that the highly diluted solutions maintain their potency. This groundbreaking research not only settles the debate on homeopathic high potencies but also opens new avenues in medical research, helping to shift perspectives on an ancient healing modality that is anything but placebo.
